Peter Morris

Scottish, composer and sound designer trained initially in dance at Central and Rambert Schools of Dance, performing in many productions including Edinburgh’s International and Fringe Festivals. He then combined his love of dance with music as a member of dance music pioneers Supereal, with many releases on seminal label Guerrilla Records including the album Elixir as well as re-mixes for acts such as Depeche Mode, he also co-wrote and produced with singer Anju Sharda as 3rd Core creating the Asian fusion album Pandemic and recently produced the album, My Tentacles with London based Japanese artist Mico a.k.a Mieko Shimizu with whom he also collaborates as Street Furniture. He has scored several films including work by directors Marcus Adams, (Long Time Dead, Octane), Richard Heslop (Floating, Palme D’Or Winner) and recently with Andy Bloom (Tortoise).
In Sound Design also in collaboration with Mico and artists Rob Rainbow and Patrick Rhoden they created the interactive sound and visual piece ‘Total Station’ which showed at The International Institute of Visual Arts. In dance he has created many compositions including several pieces with choreographer Jeremy James both with his company and with Ballet Rambert. He was also a recent finalist in ‘The Place Prize’ with choreographer Aletta Collins and Mieko Shimizu with whom he also collaborated in the ballet adaptation of Albert La Morisse’s film The Red Balloon performed at The Royal Opera House’s Linbury Theatre and have just completed new work for the Place 40th Anniversary Performances and for Phoenix Dance Theatre. |

Mieko Shimizu

Composer and singer-songwriter, Mieko Shimizu, began her career in her native Japan as a singer and pianist with her own ensemble for two pianos and trumpet, after scoring numerous animated films, she moved to the UK where she released five solo albums in contrasting styles including material as “Apache 61” released on Daisy World the label of legendary innovator Haruomi Hosono of Yellow Magic Orchestra. She also collaborated with visual artists such as D Fuse and One Dot Zero establishing her at the cutting edge of visual art and contemporary music culture, touring extensively in the UK and Europe. Her latest album “Phenomena of the Mind” includes collaborators, David Cunningham (Flying Lizards/Piano Label), Barbara Morgenstern and Robert Lippok of To Rococo Rot.
Mieko has recently collaborated with Nitin Sawhney as part of Aftershock at London’s Southbank where she is currently an Emerging Artist in Residence and supported Massive Attack at this year’s Meltdown as well as scoring for and performing with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal festival Halls recent, ‘Takeover’ event. With Peter Morris she is currently showing an interactive sound and visual piece ‘Total Station’ in collaboration with artists Rob Rainbow and Patrick Rhoden at The International Institute of Visual Arts. Teitur Árnason

Teitur hails from the land of ice and snow, Iceland. He began his musical career as a bass player in his native Iceland before moving to the UK where he trained in Sound Engineering, first in Glasgow then in London. He then became Sound Engineer at Great Eastern Studios in London recording the likes of Pete Docherty, Babyshambles, The Horrors and White Lies before forming the band Blindfold with singer Biggi and guitarist Svenni. Blindfold released the album Faking Dreams late in 2009 and early 2011 it was released in Japan. Teitur toured the UK and Europe with Blindfold and Germany with his other band, Then We Take Berlin.
He has been a Composer with Street Furniture Music since 2009 and has composed for projects like Great Grand Prix Racing Heroes, a TV series featuring Sir Stirling Moss, the documentary 'Digital Bomb - The History of The Internet', as well as 'Creative Heads - A Space Journey', a documentary sponsored by Youtube for The Cannes Advertising Festival, the 'Le Mans - 24 Hour Rally', a documentary from 2010 and 'Global Angels - Sky Dive Everest' a charity film featuring Strakka Racing driver Nick Levintis. Teitur has also scored the short films Passenger X, Knockout, Red Heels and Partygirl which featured at Encounters Film Festival 2010. He has just finished writing the lead single, 'El Corazon', for Camela Kerslake's New Album, 'Moments'. |
